How did we get here?
The idea for We Hire Newcomers started out as a simple job board, allowing companies to post jobs aimed at newcomers to Canada. David Nurse, the founder, has worked in immigration law for 11 years and noticed a gap in the industry. Employers struggling to access the newcomer and recently settled communities. We built the job site quickly, but felt like something else was missing, what made job seekers want to actually look on our site versus other more popular job sites? We had to put more focus on what employers we hosted on the site. We wanted job seekers to trust these employers, we wanted job seekers to feel safe and excited when applying for a new job knowing wehirenewcomers.ca had done the legwork of advertising companies that had no passion for hiring newcomers. While we have been waiting for the new site to be built we have used that time to speak with employers and employees, conducting market research and mentorship.
